Animals in Advertising, Success By Human Emotion

A prevalent fundamental of advertising is the desire to elicit a response from your audience. Whether it’s to buy a product, give money to an organization, or even to “live green,” the most successful ads set out to appeal to our basic human emotions. Thus, in an attempt to influence potential customer behavior, several agencies in 2012 have used a surefire marketing tool – animals.

While the use of animals in advertising is nothing new, there has definitely been a spike in this sort of advertising over the past few months. Going back to the idea of ads tapping into our emotions, one of our strongest is often humor. Coupled with a feeling of affection, some of the latest ads have gained immense popularity through their use of various animals in amusing situations.

Whether you’re entertained by the silliness or awed by the undeniable charm, these ads seemingly always garner a positive viewer reaction. Additionally, these emotional responses may not only lead to a purchase of the company’s product or service, but also often result in the spreading of the ad by word of mouth or social media.
