Carnovsky, the Milan-based design duo of Francesco Rugi and Silvia Quintanilla, created an incredible visually manipulative exhibition that has had several versions showcased globally since 2010. The RGB Exhibition is a wallpaper installation that originated at Milan’s Design Week in 2010.
Each wall covering consists of three overlapping patterns (in red, yellow and blue) whose distorted designs are only revealed when a filter is applied. The filter, either a colored light or transparent material, allow for each layer to be represented alone. The once distorted, overlapping images now form a coherent design when the red, green or blue (RGB) filter is used. The other two designs remain hidden from site and only appear together when the filter is removed.
